Right, so, here I am in Tel Aviv waiting for the epic Obama speach addressing the billions (give or take a billion) of Muslims around the world. Obama said he’d make a major speach from a Muslim capital and he’s come through on that promise. Jihadists eat your heart out:
Watching CNN International, Tel Aviv Israel Time:
1:09 pm @ Cairo University. For some reason I imagined the speech to be outside. But now that I think about it, maybe inside an auditorium will provide a less “explosive” stage.
1:10 Here comes the Queen… er, I mean Hillary Clinton. And Obama enters. People stand. Lots of Thanks You’s.
1:11 General cock stroking from Obama to Egypt. “Asalamalaykum”. The President speaketh Arabic to wild applause.
1:13 “Violent Muslim extremists are a minority in the Arab world…. but these minorites make Americans hate most of you. Also, your human rights policies suck.” My paraphrase.
1:15 “This speech isn’t going to change how much we hate each other”…
1:15 WTF is the “Holy Kore-ahn”?
Obama’s correct pronunciation of all things Muslim continues to make Americans nervous.
1:16 “I’m a Christian”. da da dum!
1:17 More cock stroking of Islam’s importance to history. Inovation. Mathematics. yada yada.
1:19 Ok, so he’s a damn good speaker. President fist pump’s still got it. Making nice connections between Muslims and Americans. Americans as Muslims. And the historical significance between the two cultures.
1:20 “Out of many, one” - E Pluribus Unum – Damn right.
1:22 Obama spent the first 10 minutes of his speech to make a solid connection between Islam and the United States…. to prove that they are one and the same. Hearing the applause of the audience, I think he made is point well.
1:24 His speech has shifted to specific problems between the U.S. and the Arab world.
1:26 The #1 issue: Violent Extremism must stop. (otherwise we’ll continue to kick your ass)
1:32 9/11 was uber traumatic for Americans.
1:33 Gitmo is closed. No more torture. But don’t think we still won’t kick your ass if crossed.
1:34 Moving on to Israel: The U.S. will always be on the side of Israel.
1:35 Don’t be an ignorant fuck and deny the Holocaust. It happened and you look like idiots by denying it. (The audience is eerily silent.)
1:36 The Palestinians need a home too and the U.S. is aware of the problem. (Lots of applause.)
1:38 Now it’s Mother Obama speaking to the Arabs warning, “violence is bad”. Stop blowing up children. Stop blowing up women. Stop being ignorant. Start building a productive society.
1:40 “Arabs must recognize Israel”. (Silence from the audience.)
1:41 Israel must recognize Palestine. The U.S. wants the Israeli settlements to stop. Now. (Lots of applause.)
1:44 Nukes. Nukes. Nukes!!!! Obama doesn’t want anyone to have nukes. But some do. Some don’t. He doesn’t agree with it. But we should abide by the Nuke laws. No answers here.
1:46 Democracy in the Middle East. “No government should be forced on a country… (cough, Iraq.) but…. if the people want Democracy, give it to ‘em. (cough, Iraq.)
1:49 It’s like sitting in political science class again. Obama’s trying to explain the reasons for Democracy and why it’s good. These are the most basic concepts of human rights and democracy that western nations learn from birth.
1:50 Someone in the audience yelled something but I couldn’t understand it. Obama said “Thank You”. (?)
1:53 Women’s rights…… da da dum! It seems to be a relatively liberal audience as they applaud loudly to Obama’s insistence that women be given the same rights and choices as men.
1:57 And in conclusion, more cock stroking. “Arab nations have a lot to offer. Don’t toss it away with ignorance and violence. ”
2:01 “Message to young people: You are the future. “ I think if anyone else in the world said this, they would have been laughed off the stage as cliche. But I guess everything just sounds better coming from Obama.
2:05 Obama hanging around the stage after his speech. Not walking off right away.
What’s the ultimate message? Islam is a part of the United States.

"And how can this be? For Obama is the Kwisatz Haderach!"
Making my rounds of blogtopia after a long absence necessitated by health problems, I must say it's nice to see you still here.
Another interesting post.
OH my goodness Ms.Missive… you're hilarious. I've been mad busy with school and all. Now that it's summer I've read 3 books in a week and finally had a flash of what I was missing. Probably due in part to reading a book the professor of Jewish studies gave me "The Entrance to The Garden of Eden" by Hosni, about a Jew searching for peace between Christians and Muslims in the Holy Land. Anyways. I miss laughing at your wit, whilst admiring your opinionated rants… and meanwhile disagreeing with half of what you say. No really, I enjoy it.
I would have liked your Cliff Notes… except your uses of c*k stroking. I mean is this porn or our President's speech? There's like less stroking in one of those rip-off "massage parlors" in SF.
But seriously, I thought the speech was good… and let's say you dislike the Muslim world (sometimes you do maybe but we're cool right?) isn't it wise, therefore to keep your enemies close. I mean… he could be like G dub and just travel to Saud and hold the King's hand.
Finally, and more seriously… how exactly do you see that last statement? Islam is part of the US.
So are Judaism, Buddism, Southern Baptists, Mormons and Televangelists. I mean… land of the free right?
I really need to get back to blogging… and to keep cruising by here. You're so fabulous dear.. even when we disagree or I'm not sure where your going with an argument… I still enjoy your commentary.
Peace,

Hey girly!! It's been WAY too long.
You definitely shouldn't take me too seriously. I talk out of my ass most of the time.
Half my posts are for entertainment value only.
But as for the Obama speech, I think his ultimate goal was to prove to the Arab world that Americans (generally) accept Islam as a part of our culture because we are the "land of the free" as you wrote. His ultimate message wasn't to convince Americans, but to convince Arabs. I think there's a huge disdain and distrust of Americans in the Arab world but Obama wanted to prove that we're more than just Americans…. we're Arabs and Jews and Christians and Buddists, etc…..
I really loved his speech as a whole. He was very honest about the strengths AND weaknesses of the Arab nations.
As for me not liking the Muslim world? What I don't like is inequality and ignorance. Let's be honest here…. Arab nations aren't exactly perfect in regards to equality between men and women (not to mention adults and children). This isn't just me guessing either. I know first had with my own eyes and also by having friends from Arab countries.
I'm also disgusting by the attitude many people in Arab nations have towards Jews. It's embarrassing and ignorant.
I respect Islamic religion but social standards are a bit too much for me to swallow.
On a lighter note, it's great to see you starting to blog again! I've had you in my Feedreader forever so I'm definitely looking forward to more!

Oh see… *hugz* if only you were Jewish our friendship would be even more memorable

And I wish my articles for the school magazine were available online… but they're not… I think I wrote you on my hotmail email… but I've been transitioning to gmail (readable at work through heavy email filters) and so I'll try and send you my articles because they made me think if you went to my Uni, you'd like them a bit
I'm the first to criticize Islamic nations whose practices aren't really Islamic. I think in fact, it's one of my pet peeves along with Muslims who don't recognize the religious validity of Judaism.
His speech was certainly good. Glad to see you're back in your beloved Tel Aviv and reporting on the crazy circus of Irani elections.
