Temporary immigrants can join the U.S. military and become citizens

Why not?  Technically, we’re all immigrants, right?

Immigrants who are permanent residents, with documents commonly known as green cards, have long been eligible to enlist. But the new effort, for the first time since the Vietnam War, will open the armed forces to temporary immigrants if they have lived in the United States for a minimum of two years, according to military officials familiar with the plan.

Recruiters expect that the temporary immigrants will have more education, foreign language skills and professional expertise than many Americans who enlist, helping the military to fill shortages in medical care, language interpretation and field intelligence analysis.

Reading between the lines:  Foreign soldiers will have less brain damage from television, the internet, and will not have grown up inside the American bubble like most of the 18 year old American citizen-soldiers have.

No, technically we are not all immigrants. I for one am an America.

I was thinking that this sounds so familiar. I had heard of using foreigners to serve in one's armies before. Now where could I have heard of people doing that?

That's right. Rome. Ancient Rome and it is one of the key things that led to its destruction.

Well, no wonder Bush and especially Obama have seemed more like Roman Caesers than US Presidents.

We are seeing America's last days before us.

    Can Israel be far behind?

  2. Sean says:

Yep, when people talk about the "Death of the West" there is no better example of that than this.

I don't predict much of a future for America. Historians will certainly see Obama's Administration as the turning point into the decline. The decline was happening before then but historians like to point to events in time and Obama being elected will be seen more of an indication of a decline that was already taking place rather than what caused the decline (though of course he will accelerate the decline).

  3. Al12 says:

Seems like a fair exchange to me–citizenship for their loyal and faithful commitment to defend America in battle.

  4. Jami says:

I, for another, am also an American (not Israeli although I do live in Israel). The foundation of America is to welcome people from all nations as long as they're willing to support and defend the freedom we so believe in. Have we forgotten the dreams of our founding fathers so fast?

  5. Jami says:

I believe it's better to support our President until he proves otherwise. You're correct that the decline started long before Obama entered office. To wish he fails is both childish and self defeating.

  6. Sean says:

Sorry, You can't have it both ways.

I was no fan of Bush but making movies about killing him was way, way over the line.

I say I am going to show Obama the same respect you showed Bush, but in truth no, as low as I will go, I will not even come close to as low as your side did. As much as I think it is in me, it's not.

But your side can't ask for any of the traditional respect that used to be owed to a President. I will not allow you to have your cake and eat it too. You booed Bush when he was leaving office. If you wanted bipartisanship then would have been the time. I hated Bush in ways you could never do, but I will never forget how you treated him. Don't you dare say I am not treating a US President with proper respect. You broke all those "unwritten rules", you set the precedent, you don't get to set it back. It is anything goes time. Well almost, but only because I just can't go as low as you.

Obama is taking away freedom. To wish that an individual is successful in taking away our freedom isn't a right thing for an American to do.

What you are saying like you want to see Hitler succeed (if you were a German back then) because after all what is good for Hitler is good for Germany.

The most patriotic thing right now is not to be patriot. Sorry, I will not be a "Good American" in the sense so many were "Good Germans".

By the way, as much as it seemed he was running for President of the world, and as much as you Jews are able to buy off our political leaders, he really isn't YOUR president. He is supposed to be the President of the United States. Not President of the World. Not President of Israel.

  7. Sean says:

I almost feel the same way. But there are serious consequences for "letting foreigners do our fighting".

It really did help to bring down the Roman Empire.

We really need to fight our own battles. As much as I don't like the concept of a draft, somehow when people are fighting and dying that needs to effect all our social strata especially the ruling class.

I guess it is inevitable though because I believe that true patriots should stop joining our military. We can't afford good men and women dying as we really need them here at home participating in their communities and raising children. The burden of battle has been placed to disproportionately upon the honorable. That's fine when the honorable is in service of the honorable. But it is not fine under this Commander in Chief (or perhaps even the the last) who doesn't value their contribution and treats their lives like Congress treats tax money.

We need them at home. We need them to raise families and prepare their families for better days.

Right now the best patriot is the one who stops acting "patriotic". It is time to hunker down and protect ourselves and the ones around us as everything caves in. For there will come a time to rebuild and good people need to be around to do that.

  8. Bill says:

    You are right.

There is not enough good people on our side to afford sacrificing them on wars that are really the making of the left.

We need to hunker down. See how the Left deals with such stuff without us. Yeah, they will mess up and things are going to get bad. That is why we need to move away from the city centers at this period of time.

We need to be around to pick up the pieces.

  9. Mike says:

You mean those dead white males?

Those dreams are dead. Perhaps dead twenty years or more.

To replace those dreams we have Yes We Can.

We don't believe in freedom anymore. We believe in entitlement. Why should I be forced to pay my mortgage or fill up my own gas tank? That should be government's job.

  10. Jami says:

I'm sorry, did you just make a connection between Obama and Hitler? And also, I'm not quite sure what you're considering "my side". If you mean Democratic, then you're generalizing far too much by assuming all Democrats applauded the mockumentary "The Death of a President".

And for the record, I'm AMERICAN, not Israeli. And also not Jewish. So take your racist rhetoric elsewhere.

  11. Jami says:

"…wars that are really the making of the left."

What fantasy world do you live in? Last time I checked, it was the Bush administration that decided to invade Iraq.

  12. Gus says:

Last time I checked it was OBAMA who was sending more troops to Afghanistan.

And, besides Bush was a liberal.

  13. Kevin says:

Anyone with a sense of history who saw his speech in Germany last summer couldn't help but think, that this is Hitler Reborn.

Let us hope that the American Constitution and the American People can restrain him in ways that the German people and the German constitution couldn't.

And I read your articles about the "Muslim Psyche" and "funny Asians".

  14. Greg says:

If you are ever "fortunate" enough to have the honor of meeting Obama here is a piece of advice.

    Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
    Use all your well-learned politesse
Or He'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah
