Because sometimes Americans need help relating to Israel

Even though many of the U.S. cities highlighted in this video are MUCH further away than 30 miles from the Mexican border, I think it’s an important and powerful message anyway:

The arguments, while appealing to emotion are full of fallicies.
There are 768 dead people in Gaza; a land which has been kept in concentrated refugee camps. There are over 3100 wounded in a population who has been starved under embargo for 3 years after their democratically elected governement received disapproval by US and Israel.
This is nothing like Mexico. Also other than San Diego which of those cities are anywhere near 30 miles from Mexico? LA is 135 miles from the mexican border, San Antonio 150 miles, Midland, Riverside, Austin 60 miles, Pheonix 200 miles, Tuscon 60 miles, Long beach 160 miles.
Mexicans have not been kept in concentration zones and camps with war refugees with limited access, food, water, border crossings closed, intermittent electricity, and on……
I have trouble relating to Israel at times like this because I can see no justification in this kind of onslaught. I have stronger words reserved for only a few select friends. I also have no problem with Jews, Israeli or otherwise.. you and I know each other a bit and I hope you know this about me and my character.

The comparison seemed quite unfair and on shakey logic. Then again, that's sort of how I view this whole current state of conflict. Killing is not right; murder is murder. Bombs and rockets are awful. War sucks and children dying is tragic. That is why I do not understand this kind of a "justification". Imagine what the Palestinian version of this video would be like. The whole situation is a f*d up mess. May our Creator protect us all in a World where there is this much genocide and hate in the world… Congo, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan/Darfur… the list would look like the opening credits to friggin Star Wars.
A good book I once read says, "If you kill one innocent person it's as if you've killed all of humanity, and if you save the life of one person it is as if you've saved all of humanity"
Peace and with respect I respectfully disagree, also been a bit busy with studies and such so I haven't stopped by often… but i do think of ya :) -erica aisha

Jeezuz F* Christ . . . . I'm fed up with the "debate" over whether or not Israel, or anyone else for that matter, is justified in waging war and killing in the interests of "self-defense." War is the ultimate manifestation of human ignorance. And though it may indeed *seem* that some people need to be "taught a lesson" the hard way, that still doesn't justify the kind of eye-for-an-eye aggression that Israel engages in. Does the Israeli government really believe dropping bombs on Hamas will change things for the better? All that does is make things worse. Need proof? Just look at the mess the U.S. has created in Iraq and Afghanistan under the guise of "self-defense."____It's time for Israel, AND Palestine, AND Hamas, AND the U.S. and everyone else in this troubled world of ours, to grow up.

I think someone has to see the point of underdogs…. and Israel might be sending some food across heavily controlled borders… but those people live in camps in squalor. They elected Hamas because the people (as disenfrancised and deplorably as they are treated) feel that this group represents their views and needs.
I refuse to spend my time defending Hamas, or any of that. The bottom line is 800 people have died. It is not comparable to supposed Mexico in that scenario. Name one group of people who has been stufffed in camps behind razor wire and treated like the underDOGS that the outsiders believe they are.
That is how the people in Gaza are being treated.

Any slums or camps the Palestinians are living in (which, btw, is a vast exageration) are to blamed not on Israel, but their own government. Instead of wasting money launching missiles at Israel, don't you think it would be better spent taking care of their own citizens? I think the big question here is who is actually mistreating the Palestinian civilians. Last time I checked, Israel withdrew from Gaza years ago. How has Hamas helped its people besides keeping them filled with racial anger, terrorist idiologies, and blaming Israel for all their woes?

why does your system hate me? i have more to say but i am censored.. argh. that is so annoying.

No my stronger words would be not for the public, We can email. I just don't care to say everything in public to those who don't know me. Yes, ignorance is contagious, God willing we all don't catch it. The picture i see is hundreds dying. I felt the same way in Iraq. I also believe that in those communities it breeds more hate. While they will be held responsible for it on the day of judgement… there is so much that goes into that hate and bias. They are slaughtered en mass and this breeds hate and malcontentment. Is Israel coming from the point of defense and it's own bias?

  9. erica5aisha says:

Is that why my friends, whom I love serve in various military? IDF included… yes.__Simply put, I hate war. I am a Sufi, a lover of God… I am a Muslim, yes but I feel indignancy at the mass slaughter of anyone. I feel your video is illogical and unequivicable to the hetrocities that Israel is currently letting loose on hundreds of innocents to catch some guys with rockets when the problem is deeper than that with a convoluted and long history of 2 peoples who are so alike at this point they are practically Cain and Able. Who will walk the world forever carrying the blood of his brother?

Ms.Missive, sorry i had 2 make that 3 dif. posts the system would not let me post. Anyways, I am often reluctant to comment on this too much online because I can't have a healthy exchange it respectful and understanding manner. Because maybe we could not have words between two friendly people like us that seem so… unkind.
Dearest, I respect you and your views. I did not believe that was an accurate video. You and I have differing views on the information the USAians are fed on tv. However, I would not say more online because i would not disrespect someone whose opinion i value. On that note, remember i knew what point of view you'd have, perhaps i expected more understanding. I am not defending Hamas. I am sympathetic to crying and dying Palestinians. Also I apologize if i missed the disclaimer on distance. I still think the video is not a good comparisson.

  11. erica5aisha says:

I do not believe one point is the ultimate right and one is the ultimate wrong. I believe that innocent people dying sucks, and that it would be ok with you if I expressed a difference of opinion without being shot down as an ignorant muslim.
I also believe we are held responsible for our actions in this life and/or after death. In the words of the Bible "No one is righteous, not even one".
Do I believe Hamas could have done more over the last few years? Yes, but there are extraneous matters there. Do I see the Palestinians as walled off and under an embargo? Yes.. isn't that a fact?

  12. MsMissive says:

I noted that the distance between Israeli cities and American cities are not accurate but they are RELATIVE to our countries respective sizes. It's the message of the video that is more important than the geographic location of the cities.

Also, just because Palestine is an under-dog when facing off with the Israeli military doesn't mean that we should support them. If a country was indiscriminately launching missiles at me without being provoked, I would try to stop them.

Hamas is nothing but democratically elected terrorists who would rather see their own people suffer in exchange for a continued hatred of Jews. That is the bottom line.

Palestine receives Israeli funds, food, fuel, and medical support by yet Hamas still insists on launching rockets. Why? The Palestinian civilians want peace and prosperity just like other nations yet their government continues to focus on aggressive actions against Israel. Why?

I think Palestine would be a wonderful place if they would acknowledge Israel and focus on building their "democratic" nation.

You're being very narrow minded in your comments and not seeing the complete picture. I expected higher thinking from you, Erica. Are the "stronger words you keep only for a few select friends" only for your other Muslim friends? I guess that ignorant Muslim hatred is contagious.

  13. MsMissive says:

I'm not aware of any issues with the commenting system. Unless it's filtering out links from your comment. I'll double check everything. I'm sorry it's being cranky with ya Erica. Rest assured I completely value your opinion on this topic.
