Rick Warren removes the “Gays Not Accepted” sign from his church’s website. Maybe Skitz is right….
Then again, maybe he’s just a fair weather Evangelical.
Psalms 24:3 “Ignorance is bliss… or, your beliefs are only valid when they benefit you.”

It's not like he is Dr. James Dobson. Even Dobson found out that he really couldn't deliver "his people" when he supported a candidate not in line with their perspective.
"Leaders" like Dobson eventually find out that their credibility and influence relates directly to their actions. Sure they might be able to bring a few sheeple along with them when they do something funky, but it cost them more than it benefits them because people lose trust in them. Most will only follow when they are being led in the direction they want to be. They don't just do something or supports someone because their "leader" tells them to. Dobson leaves 2008 much weaker than he started out. With many people being very disillusioned by him.
And as Scott said, Warren had practically no influence to begin with. Now he has negative influence. As we Americans say. his name is Mudd (and yes it is spelled Mudd and its a historical reference as I don't mean his name is dirt).
RIck Warren can hardly be con considered "the Right".
If anything he is just a political opportunist . He never have had much of a following outside of his McChurch.
He is just a sleazy phony that most real Christians disdain. After all Jesus Himself warned us about people like him.
I had never heard of him until this year. When they said Saddleback of course I couldn't help thinking about the movie. I guess he was on the opposite side of the issue but being correct on one issue doesn't make one a good person.
He is still only a pastor because it makes him boatloads full of money. His removing the anti-homosexuality statement shows him for the craven opportunist he is. If this is what he believes he should be outspoken about it.
I can't think of many in America who have any respect for him. Heck, I don't even with this publicity most people don't know him. At most they have heard the name, and perhaps the controversy and that's about it.
But they way, you makes a good point that he will be talking solely to the left. No one else will be watching the Inauguration . The average person (non-political) will not be watching it. And of course non-liberals won't be watching it. Obama has become a figure just as divisive as Bush was. Especially since most of America is wondering if Obama really is a US citizen. Recent evidence including eye-witness testimony (until Raila Odinga forbid her from talking) suggests that Obama was born in Kenya and not Hawai'i.
He was never out there in America politics. Never really known in the US before Obama used him like he did.
I think he made a major mistake here. By compromising (or at least watering down) his anti-homosexuality views he has probably alienated many of the people he was milking money from.
And I doubt he has won friends in the Left.
And he never had any influence outside the people in his McChurch. How many people is that anyway? Even if it was 5000 people still relatively not that much.
To the Left he will be remembered as "the Hater".
To the Right he will be remembered as the one who sold out his spirituality to "the One".
Both sides hate him. He doesn't have much of a future from here on in.
Perhaps he will be able to maintain enough people at his McChurch to maintain his lifestyle, But apart from a night at the Lincoln Bedroom (the room used to be Lincoln's Office but later was turned into a bedroom) his gambit hasn't worked.
Well, I had never heard of him. Not until this year.
Regardless, whatever influence he might have had he has much less now. The left hate him for being anti-homosexuality. The right hates him for being pro-the usurper. He has pissed off both sides.
Christians in particular don't like someone who sells out their spirituality for a place at the King's Table.
By the end of next year he won't even be a trivia question. It will be Warren Who?
His 15 minutes is coming to an end. People are beginning to see him for the fraud he is. He is as bad as the moneychangers that Jesus violently kicked out of the temple.
"Lambert Vander Tuig, a member of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest Calif., ran a real estate scam that bilked investors out of $50 million, the Securities and Exchange Commission says. His salesmen presented themselves as faithful Christians and distributed copies of “The Purpose Driven Life,” by Saddleback pastor Rick Warren, according to the SEC. Warren and his church had no knowledge of Vander Tuig’s activities, says the SEC."
Well, at least I guess they couldn't PROVE a connection.
I guess he was more popular than I realized. Wow, I was so out of touch this time. But then again I am not really into Self Help Books by some McChurch moneychanger.
But he has now shown to the world the double-dealer he is.
But there are those who already knew it for years.

I guess I did greatly underestimate his influence but he has just destroyed his influence with a signification number of people. Unlike what you might think about Christians most of them are not "cult followers". When a leader does something funky as this guy just has done they stop following him.
Here is another person who has been criticizing him.

If you check it out until recently of course his greatest critics have come from the Right. True Christians hate him, and the whole idea of McChurches,
Well I take that back. True Christians don't hate anyone, right. They are just very, very critical of how he uses Christianity.
I can't see how he can make it now that he has made such a political miscalculation. He certainly won't be welcomed anywhere near conservative circles. And unless he is "adopted" by the Left then his career is all but over.
But he is a millionaire several times over so he can just go laughing to the bank.
By the way not that I necessarily believe the whole "Anti-Christ" thing but the prophesy does mention that with the Anti-Christ there would be some religious figure that will be an ally with the Anti-Christ. It is interesting how closely the prophesy does connect with Obama in a way it hasn't with anyone else.
If Obama receives an head wound and survives (which the prophesy says will happen with the anti-Christ) then I will be convinced that Obama is indeed the anti-Christ.
Here is another article about him.

From what I can tell he has been propped up by the LEFT for the last few years. Until now of course with the gays all upset at him because of his fews against homosexuality.
But until this recent controversy the strongest criticisms against him have come from Conservatives.
Because of his views on Homosexuality I meant.
Which are views shared by most of California, which is an extremely Liberal State in general.
One last thing.
Do you really think if he gets up at that speech of his and says something like "I was all wrong about homosexuality and Prop 8 was wrong and should be overturned" that is going to make all his followers just change their minds as well? Perhaps a few would follow along but not many.
And on the other hand would the Left embrace that or would they just see it as a cynical attempt to get a seat at the King's table? I believe they would see right through him as well.
So the Left hates him but at the same time he has tied his fortune with that of "the One." It doesn't look good for him. Perhaps this will start a cottage industry of people writing books about how bad he is. I bet they will become best sellers as well. Perhaps not as big as "a purpose driven life" but still best sellers.
"Just today during Christmas, my grandmother photo copied an interview Warren did so that everyone could "benefit" from his word."
Here, print this out and send it to ole' Granny

I doubt she will still be a fan of his when she finds out that he believes that Syria is a "moderate country".
No thanks necessary.
Warren has no influence?? His book, "Purpose Driven Life", has sold over 25 MILLION copies. Just today during Christmas, my grandmother photo copied an interview Warren did so that everyone could "benefit" from his word. I think you're sorely underestimating Warren.
I think if Warren denounced his previous ideas about homosexuals, his followers would turn on him BUT he would begin to see a lot more Liberal support. Maybe not all Liberals, but certainly a general "welcome to the fold" feeling.
