An Israeli court ruled in favor of the Palestinian Authority paying retribution for the death of an American couple. The couple were shot in 1996 by Hamas gunmen in Israel inside of their car.
Of course, the Palestinian Authority is arguing the ruling and provides the following reason to the court:
The Palestinian Authority’s pleading in the case was not made public, but an attorney for the plaintiffs summarized it for CNN. The attorney said the Palestinian Authority asked the court to throw out the case because an unfavorable judgment would make the organization liable for such large sums from this and other cases that it would go bankrupt.
Sooooo…. the PA is arguing that they shouldn’t have to pay retribution to this family because THEN they’d have to pay for ALL the families who’ve been subjected to their terrorist attacks. That’s an air-tight argument if I ever heard one.

@Amber
Actually, the U.S. military already provides compensation for the deaths of Iraqi civilians. We know that accidents happen and the United States accepts its error and the responsibility. Look <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2003/nov/26/iraq….target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a> for the related article. This is called human compassion. It's something that the Palestinian Authority doesn't have.

Ms. Missive. You should call yourself Ms. Naive instead. The US was not accepting responsibility. The US was paying hush money. It payed a couple hundred dollars to a couple hundred people. If the U.S provided Iraqi families $100 Million compensation for each of the 95,000 doucumented civilian deaths, it would come out to
$11,020,000,000,000 The US would be broke. What about all the Palestinians killed from the Israeli army and settlers (funded by Americans). If we want Americans and Israelis victims of Palestinian terrorism to be payed for their losses, then we should be fair and also support victims of US and Israeli terrorism to be compensated for their losses.

First of all, if you have a valid point to make then you should be able to do it without name calling.
Second, in most cases, the compensation to Iraqi civilians who have claimed wrongful death are paid…period. The total amount of dollars is not relevant. What is relavant is that the United States investigates claims and acknowledges fault. This is the most important distinction to make between the Palestinian Authority and the United States.

I apologize if the "name calling" offended you.
Of course the dollar amount is relevant. Secondly, the US does not investigate the majority of claims. Thirdly, most Iraqis don't have the money, opportunity, or platform to make claims in the first place, They are more worried about whether they will live the next day, if they will have clean water to drink, food to eat, and a roof to live under. The majority just hope for a better future (free from US occupation and tyrannical governments)
Did we pay for these deaths? ” target=”_blank”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzLYk07oGN4
Acknowledge them perhaps?

The Iraqis will have their "freedom" soon enough when the U.S. troops pull out in 2011.
