Did someone just propose a timetable?

Here’s some news for you, there’s been mention of a timetable for U.S. withdrawl from Iraq… and it wasn’t by a Democrat.  Hell, it wasn’t even by a Republican.  It was by Iraq’s very own Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Well I bet that sits wonderfully with his buddy President Bush who, along with his entire administration, has been saying the whole time that a timetable for withdrawl would only “embolden the terrorists”.

But hey, I say, if the Iraqis are ready for us to leave, let’s pack our shit and go!

Now, before anyone gets too excited, this was just a passing thought that al-Maliki was throwing out there as one of a couple options for a security pact currently being negotiated about the future of U.S. troops in Iraq, since our current authorization by the country to be there will end in December, but it’s still a big step when in front of the entire United Arab Emirates al-Maliki would mention 2 high profile options of the end of U.S. involvement in Iraq.

Apparently long-term U.S. involvement in the country is kind’ve a twist in their panties that they’re quite ready to do away with, and even if al-Maliki seeks to keep us there, the Iraqi parliament could be able to turn over the decision and send us packing.

As of yet Bush has not responded to this discussion taking place, but we’ll keep you updated as to what he says.
