Recount In New Hampshire Demanded By Kucinich

Kucinich, who??

Oh right. The guy who won less than 2 percent of the votes. But apparently, he’s entitled to a recount under New Hampshire law which grants it to any candidate who received less than 3 percent of the votes. The only stipulation is that the candidate who demands the recount has to pay for it out of their own pocket.

It seems like it might be a costly affair, right? But in fact:

Candidates who lose by 3 percentage or less are entitled to a recount for a $2,000 fee. Candidates who lose by more must pay for the full cost. Kucinich’s campaign said it was sending the $2,000 fee to start the recount.

Why is he doing it then? It’s obviously NOT going to miraculously win him the primary. But it would be the smart and economical way to analyze the votes for Clinton and Obama. (Because they accumulated far more than 3 percent of the votes, they would be charged the complete bill for a state wide recount if they demanded it.)

Kucinich alluded to online reports alleging disparities around the state between hand-counted ballots, which tended to favor Sen. Barack Obama, and machine-counted ones that tended to favor Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. He also noted the difference between pre-election polls, which indicated Obama would win, and Clinton’s triumph by a 39 percent to 37 percent margin.

Is this an indication that Kucinich is aligning himself with Obama?
