It’s been a few days, so I figure it’s time for another Skitz Jones style slew of news snippets.  Enjoy.

The writers strike continued to take weird turns with the return last night of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.  Can you say AWKWARD?  Speaking of awkward…

Hillary’s verbal misstep might seal her fate.  “(W)e don’t need to be raising the false hopes of our country about what can be delivered” Said Hillary, to which Obama replied “If anything crystallizes what this campaign is about, it was that right there.  What does that mean, false hopes?  How have we made progress in this country? Look, did John F. Kennedy look at the moon and say, ‘Ah, it’s too far?’ We can’t do that. We need a reality check.  Dr. King standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. ‘You know, this dream thing, it’s a false hope. We can’t expect equality.’  False hopes. Let me tell you something about hope. I do talk about hope quite a bit. Out of necessity. There is no oddsmaker who would have said that I would be standing here when I was born in 1961.”

The words “Oh Snap” come to mind.

While winning primaries, and turning phrases, what else has Obama been up to?  Oh, you know, not much, just trying to mediate between the President of Kenya and the Opposition leader in an attempt to bring an end to the violence that has befallen the nation since the election last week.  Trying to mediate violence?  Well that sounds fairly presidential.  After all, isn’t that what Prez Bush is on his way to the Middle East to attempt?  Well, you know, maybe not with everyone…

Iranian ships played an interesting game of chicken with U.S. ships Monday, and Prez Bush is less than thrilled about it.  The U.S. ships were in the Persion Gulf, but not in Iranian waters.  The Bush admin is using this as yet another example to highlight the Prez’s feelings about Iran- “Iran was a threat. Iran is a threat. And Iran will continue to be a threat…”  Be afraid, be very very afraid.

We’d now like to take a break to hear from a Huckabee supporter on his stance on the Republican Presidential hopeful:

“I’m a Huckabee supporter because who else can get Chuck Norris?” asked Gabe Smith, 18, from Wakefield, New Hampshire who described himself as a professional skateboarder. When pressed, he added, “I like it that he doesn’t support the gays. That ain’t right, that ain’t in the Bible. He’s not supporting the civil union thing.”

Huckabee gave a speech in N.H. in a last minute bid for the primary nod, followed by a joining a band on stage to play the songs “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Sweet Home Chicago” furthering proof that in addition to being out of touch with science, Huckabee also hasn’t seen a map in a while.

That seems like a good place to exit, so I will.  Enjoy the rest of your day.

LMAO, Iran is a threat… Now, I've seen the parts of the video that they've shown and I have to laugh when, if this was correct, 5 speedboats against 3 warships. Granted, they probably had some rpg's, but against 3 warships??? Um, that's akin to me standing in front of a freight train with a pea shooter.
Is there anyone else Dubwadumbass would like to threaten? I mean we just aren't at war until every soldier, sailor, airman, and marine is deployed all at once and have re-instated the draft! (sarcasm here) Oh, that's right…I forgot, he's trying to mediate peace this week. Hmmm…somehow I feel a US-backed Israeli-Palestinian all out war coming from this mediation. Sigh…I'd love to say there's only so many days left of this presidency, but the next one isn't looking all that bright either.

I also saw the video… laughed my ass off at the way our sailors were talking on the radio with near panic and the warning siren from the ship blaring like a Nuke was en route.

And I squinted to see the little speed boats in the distance who were, apparently, just having a little fun.

I thought to myself, "Are you serious??" It was a laugh.

Iran seems to have their own version as well now. As with the version the U.S. has put out, both sides seemed to have done some creative editing in what it's showing their respective peoples. My guess though is the same as yours Ms Missive. Just some speedboats having a little poke. "Provocative act" is hardly a phrase I would use to describe this (I would say incident, but it was hardly that) little bit of fun the Iranians were having with us.

    Vote NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!
