I’ve gotta give the guy props for laying it out there for us. I’m sure there’s still quite a few things to be heard about Obama, but at least he’s taking “political honesty” a notch higher than his predecessors.
During a visit to Manchester Central High School in New Hampshire today, he openly admitted to experimenting with drugs as a teenager. gasp!
“You know, I made some bad decisions that I’ve actually written about. You know, got into drinking. I experimented with drugs,” he said. “There was a whole stretch of time that I didn’t really apply myself a lot. It wasn’t until I got out of high school and went to college that I started realizing, ‘Man, I wasted a lot of time.”‘
“Junkie. Pothead. That’s where I’d been headed: the final fatal role of the young would be black man,” Obama wrote. Mostly he smoked marijuana and drank alcohol, Obama wrote, but occasionally he would snort cocaine when he could afford it.
This is the point where people either nod in approval for his honesty or tisk at his “unwholesome” past. Obama puts Bill Clinton’s “I didn’t inhale” scandal to shame and beats any future mud throwing by the other Presidential competitors to the wayside.
Interesting strategy, Obama. I wonder, will the other candidates follow suit? Hillary and crack? Johnny Boy Edwards and meth? They say the one thing that makes a leader is a follower.
