Since our initial invasion in 2003 to the troop surge of 2007, here is what they’re telling you about the Iraq war today:
- It’s getting better (all the time. Thank you Beatles.)
- We have more Iraqi cooperation. (You mean they’re actually participating in the wellbeing of their own country?)
- The tides are changing. (It was bad, but now it’s not so bad.)
- Our troop surge has created a drop in violence. (More troops equals less terroism. Makes sense, I suppose.)
What is actually the most important fact to hear:
Listen up, people. It’s not going away and it’s certainly not getting any better.
Six American soldiers were killed in three separate attacks Monday, the military said Tuesday, taking the number of deaths this year to 852 and making 2007 the deadliest year of the war for American troops.
With two months still remaining in the year, that number is certain to jump well past the highest annual casualty figures. Have you thanked your President lately?
