A university in Iran sent an invite to President George W. Bush to come and speak on such topics as the Holocaust, Terrorism, and Human Rights.
Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the 3rd oldest major state university of Iran, offered the invite to come speak to it’s 15,000 students following the controversial appearance of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at Columbia University in New York.
According to the Washington Post:
“President Bush looks forward to traveling to a democratic Iran, an Iran where its leaders allow freedom of speech and assembly for all of its people and an Iran where the leaders mourn the victims of the Holocaust, not call for the destruction of Israel,” National Security Councel spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.
This is strikingly similar to the way Bush got out of coming to the front of class in high school to give a report on the Holocaust saying, “I would give my report, but I’d only do it if this were a free, democratic classroom. heh heh heh heh heh…”
Let it be noted that the preceding quote has no factual basis and cannot actually be attributed to the President. Except for the “heh heh heh heh heh…” part. He says that all the time.
In other news- the squabbling between the U.S. and Iran has gone from snubs and name calling- to direct statements of hatred. No really.
A Senior Official in the Bush Administration, Debra Cagan, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Coalition Affairs, is being quoted as saying “I hate all Iranians.”
Isn’t it great to see everyone playing nice and being so mature in this time of global conflict?
